| Resumé
Tips |
 |
There are many ways of organizing a
resume. Our experience has proved that the chronological
resume outlined below is the best suitable for
presentation to the companies we work with and it is the
format the majority of our clients request. View a
sample resume.
Chronological Resume
A functional resume provides a general overview of the
applicant’s expertise, and separately, a brief listing of
the companies the person has worked for. This resume
highlights your skills but does not provide the level of
detail required by our clients. All of our clients want to
review a candidate's work history chronologically.
Therefore, we ask that you send us a resume outlining your
work history in a chronological
fashion with details of your skills and achievements under
each place of employment.
Cover Letter
A cover letter is not required to apply to Superior
Staffing Solutions. It
is more important to have all relevant information within
the resume itself. It is the resume that travels directly
to your potential employer, not the cover letter. However,
if there is important information that could affect your
application such as travel restrictions, relocation, or
salary requirements, please include that information in a
brief covering letter.
Professional History
Without making your resume excessively lengthy,
make sure to provide sufficient details about your
professional history, particularly what relates to the job
you are applying for. Target your resume for the given
position. In your resume, answer the questions set by the
job description and requirements.
Layout
We prefer resumes in WORD or DOC formats, since
this facilitates their review and storage. The simpler the layout, the
better. Please avoid headers, footers and tables. It is
most convenient for us when your resume starts with your
name without a header.
Contact Information
Please make sure your legal name, address and contact
details, such as phone numbers and email addresses where
you can be reached confidentially, are listed at the top
of your resume.
Job
Search Objective
It is helpful to have a job search objective, but it is
not a must.
Skills
You may provide a brief summary of your skills, however,
it is more important that each skill set is mentioned
within the context of the employment place where you used
it, in other words, within the chronological description
of your work history.
Work History
Please list specific positions with previous employers
and/or a project summary. Your resume should comprise your
work history, including the names of the companies you
have worked for, periods of work, titles of the jobs
you’ve held, and most importantly, a description of your
responsibilities at each work place. Be precise about the
dates and avoid chronological gaps. Please provide details
on your direct responsibilities, achievements,
technologies you worked with, and management duties, if
any. When describing each of the places of your
employment, please be specific about experiences directly
relevant to the job you are applying for. Also, it would
help the potential employer to understand the environment
you are coming from, if you provide a one or two sentence
description for each company you have worked for, such as
their product, industry, direction, technical environment
and/or size.
Education & Achievements
Provide details of your education with dates,
professional achievements/awards and additional skills,
such as knowledge of foreign languages.
Personal Interests & Hobbies
It is not required to add information about your personal
interests or hobbies, but it illustrates to the employer
that you are a well-rounded person who has interests
outside of work.
This layout not only helps our clients, but also ensures a
fair assessment of your skills and experience allowing us
to screen and qualify you as a potential candidate for our
client.
After receiving your chronological resume, we will review
it for the position you applied for and will contact you
for further discussion, if your skills match the
opportunity. If there is no immediate match, we will keep
your resume, in confidence, for consideration in future
positions.
